Space Base has the same dynamic as Catan on which everyone has an opportunity to gain something on yours and your opponents' die rolls. It's unlike Splendor or Catan, but is the same weight of gameplay. The second phase, everyone bids on the auction pile cards to try and secure the best set collections for final points. The first phase you're drafting cards for yourself, your opponents and the auction pile and your opponents are doing the same on their turns. Both 7 Wonders and It's a Wonderful World have the get a card that is also a resource that you can buy better cards with aspect, like Splendor.īiblios is a light card based game that has two phases. Also a great game and checks all of your boxes. It's a Wonderful World has all but replaced 7 Wonders. We played the stew out of this game back in the day. ![]() A better game IMO.ħ Wonders is also great game. It has the same social, multiple character action selection mechanic, and for the most part, that's the entirety of the game which makes the game considerably less time. The other parts where you are gaining your resources to acquire cards towards your final victory points sometimes doesn't have the same energy of the gotcha portion and is less fun. The multiple character action selection is my favorite part of the game. Splendor is great game and Catan, like a lot of people, was one of the first games that got me into the hobby.Ĭitadels can be a fun game, but it tends to run long. Online play is definitely a different experience but some of them are pretty faithful reproductions and can give you an idea of what you like. ![]() A lot of games are available on or Board Game Arena to play online if you want to check them out before you buy them. Honestly if Catan and Splendor are most of your experience, you just want to get some popular games and play them and learn what you like and don't like out of games. Nevermore is another quick and fun card drafting game.Ĭarcassonne might be a good one to add to your collection, it's fast and easy and you can get a ton of expansions if you get sick of the base game. If you are looking at quick and easy, Port Royal is a good card game to pick up. I haven't played Dominion or Citadels but both a pretty highly rated in this sub and in general. Both get played pretty heavily by my group. ![]() 7 Wonders kinda scratches that same itch of engine building too. Century, either Golem edition or Spice Road would be similar to Splendor.
